Mr. Potato

It is always fun to have fresh potatoes dug from your own garden. This is new from seed variety that will make a great addition to your garden.

Growing Instructions:

  • Warm well drained soil is best.
  • They will grow well in a container on the patio as well.
  • Plant after the threat of frost.
  • This is one of the few times we recommend tearing the core pot when planting to give the small potatoes room to grow.
  • Plant potatoes deep covering about a third to half of the stem. This will promote more root growth. While growing you can hill up the soil around the plants promoting more foots and more potatoes.
  • One the plant starts to die back the potatoes will be ready to dig.
  • Make sure you dig your potatoes before frost in the fall.
  • Potatoes are more commonly grown from seed potatoes. These can be purchased in early May.
  • Plant the whole potato or cut so each piece has an eye showing (a little distinctive bump on the potato where a new shoot will form.) Plant about 12" apart in rows about three feet apart.
