|
A mix of green and yellow beans to give you a head start on the season. These two varieties produce lots of long tender beans on compact fast growing bushes.
Growing Instructions:
- Do not separate before planting.
- Plant about 12" apart or great in containers.
- Beans like full sun and moist ground. Remember Beans are very susceptible to frost damage and burn from cold wind if planted too early.
- Seed your next planting from seed now and repeat every 2-3 weeks until about the middle of July for beans all summer. Except for getting an early start beans are best direct seeded into the garden.
- Beans do not require additional fertilizer in a well maintained garden.
- For the garden mark a row about half an inch deep. Place the seeds about 2" apart then cover and pat tight. For a container use a few less seeds and keep at least 3" from the edge of the pot.
- Container grown beans should be fed along with all your container plants.
- Harvest beans when they are about 5-6 inches long and before the seed gets too big.
- Beans get tougher as they get too old.
- Besides regular bush beans there are lots of others to try. Pole beans that require a trellis. Lots of different types of beans that are left to grow and dry on the vine and stored for cooking.
